Robert Antonelli Productions

Post From Bob

Only a few weeks away to the release of the new album.  I hope you’ve been enjoying the videos that go along with the release.  Back when Scott and I first started putting together the plan for recording, we both knew that we wanted a video camera up and running as often as possible.

Along with music, video production is a passion of mine.  It coincides well with what Cahill does and needs.  It’s nice to have professional equipment that we can use for promotion and not have to go to an outside source to have a video presence.  It also allows me the chance to practice and adapt my videography skills to a point that I can bring my passion beyond music.

In fact, within the last year I’ve started my own video production business.  My primary focus has been weddings – which are a ton of fun to shoot – and I’m hoping to expand to larger projects as time goes on.

The biggest hurdle is upgrading my equipment.  It’s amazing how fast technology can become obsolete.  You think you’re getting top notch hardware and software, then a year later, your computer is chugging because it can’t handle all the HD video I’m throwing at it.

I’ve been having an internal debate about my next step.  I could bite the bullet and just purchase a giant super-computer that allows me to upgrade as technology morphs.  Of course the cost of that is staggering.  BUT, if I keep my cost low now, within 2 years I’ll be back to a chugging machine that makes we want to tear my hair out – and believe me, I tore out quite a bit.

For example…

Every video in this series starts with that montage of old Cahill movies that then blend into the art work for the new record.  This :10 seconds of footage was a HUGE pain in the ass.  Each of those videos had to be resized, spaced, and then given movement that coincided with all the other videos.  I can’t tell you how many times I had the sequence down perfectly and then my computer decided to crash.  The short intro took me a whole day to complete.  Had I been the proud owner of a fully functional, kickass super computer, it probably would’ve only taken a few hours.

I know getting the super computer is the right thing to do, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen soon.  The other good side of purchasing new and expensive equipment…Cahill benefits!

For those of you who might be interested in my little side project, head on over to my new Facebook page. Show some love with the like button and share it with a friend – especially if that friend is getting married!

Did I mention that Cahill fans get a discount!
