Every now and then I dig around on YouTube and see if there are any videos that sneak up there that I don’t know about. Today I bumped into the video from over a year ago at Club Passim, when we were still road testing “I Still Don’t Know” – I actually nailed the solo.
I’m going to show this to Bob tonight, because frankly, neither of us can remember the last time I made it through the entire solo without crashing and burning…
Fast forward to 1:30, or watch the whole video if you like…

Well here we are, my first blog of 2011.
I see Scott has been keeping you all entertained while I was in South Africa…sorry to put you through that.
I make the SA trip every year, and every year I find something new and amazing to soak in while staying in that beautiful country. It was a fantastic trip filled with family, friends, & some of the best food I’ve had in a while!
I have 2 stories I want to share.
The first is best explained as a video…
Driving was VERY tricky at first, but by day 3, I was tearing up the road, showing the South Africans how to drive the Bostonian way!
My second story reminds me of something you would see on National Geographic. Picture this…
I’m doing my run through the city of Klienmond, SA. I’ve just done 2 miles along the coast and am making my way back through a residential neighborhood. I have about 1/2 mile left when all of a sudden about 14 little African kids come running around the corner, all of them wanting to join me.
I look around and I can’t help but smile. They are all laughing, trying to keep up with me. They probably don’t understand a word I’m saying, but I tell them I’ll race them to the next street corner. They are all shouting in some language I can’t make heads or tails of and when we reach the corner they all start cheering and wave as I continue past them.
I really wish I had a picture of it…One tall skinny white dude from Billerica, MA surrounded by 14 tiny black kids jogging the streets of South Africa.
Good times!

Bob has been in Africa for the past several weeks, and I have had absolutely nothing to do but play video games in order to keep myself entertained. On the Cahill front, I thought it would be fun to dig up a few video blogs from the past that always put a smile on my face. Enjoy…
#1: “Fight Club”
#2: “Scaredy Cat”

We are really crossing the threshold into idiocy on this one…Thomas Boyce (another facebook fan) requested “Fight the Power” – originally performed by Public Enemy. Of all the facebook requests, this one seemed to be the most ludicrous.
And so, here it is:
And the original song, for reference:

One of our facebook fans, Ryan DeCosta, asked us to cover a System of a Down song called “Revenga”. Well, Bob and I never pass up a challenge…even if it is a wild departure from our given genre.
Here is our attempt:
And if you want to see the real thing for a reference point, here is that too:

Not bad if i do say so myself…

Our last podcast of 2010 has been posted! Our friends (and fellow Faneuil Hall musicians) Paul and Tim of “Tall Heights” stopped by to discuss life, death, music, and other weighty subject matter.
They also perform a stunning version of a new song called “Rafters”, which I have been humming over and over in my head since editing the podcast.
Check it out!
Check them out!
